Pregnant and coffee

  1. Many people start the day with a cup of coffee. People need to wake up. But more and more studies indicate that coffee during pregnancy could be dangerous. In America, drinking coffee during pregnancy is considered to be just as serious as smoking during pregnancy. Here in the Netherlands, however, we are a bit more down-to-earth. We think a cup of coffee should be possible.

Coffee during pregnancy

  1. Although there is no clear scientific evidence about the possible harmful effects of coffee, it is recommended not to drink too many caffeinated drinks during pregnancy. The Nutrition Center recommends limiting caffeine intake to a maximum of 100 milligrams per day. This is equivalent to one cup of coffee per day. Also pay attention to other caffeinated drinks such as energy drinks, cola and tea. When using these drinks, it is possible that a cup of coffee already exceeds the maximum recommendation.
