Pregnant and fried chicken breast for the sandwich

  1. Some meat products are not recommended for pregnant women because they can be dangerous to the health of the baby. In the Netherlands, raw meat products and liver are not recommended by the nutrition center. Other meat products are not discouraged, although there is a risk that pre-cut meat products, such as fried chicken fillet, are contaminated with Listeria. Listeriosis can seriously affect the baby during pregnancy.

Chicken fillet during pregnancy

  1. During pregnancy, roast chicken fillet is not recommended as a meat product on bread by the nutrition center. This is the case in some other countries. For example, the Australian food authority does not recommend eating pre-cut cold meats in connection with several incidents where Listeria has been found on these products. If fried chicken fillet is eaten during pregnancy, it is best to choose the freshest possible chicken fillet. It is preferable not to eat chicken breast that is nearing the expiration date. Pregnant women with high blood pressure should eat chicken fillets in moderation, as the meat contains a lot of salt. A safer alternative is to fry and slice fresh chicken breast yourself. Make sure that the chicken fillet is well cooked, and prevent cross-contamination by not letting the fried chicken fillet come into contact with the raw chicken. Store the homemade chicken breast in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
