Peel the potatoes and cut into equal pieces. Boil them in water with salt in 20 minutes until done.

Slice the garlic.

Heat butter in a frying pan and fry the garlic with the stew vegetables over medium heat for 15 minutes. Stir frequently.

Heat the milk in a saucepan.

Drain the potatoes. Stamp them with the puree mash and add the rest of the butter and the milk.

Stir the stew vegetables through the mash and serve with the pepper mackerel.
