Cut the underside of the stalk chicory and cut the chicory in half. Remove the hard core. Cut the chicory into narrow parts.

Heat the butter in a frying pan with non-stick coating and bake the chicory for approx. 3 min.

Add the sugar, pepper and salt and possibly some water. Stir-fry the chicory on high heat for about 3 minutes until the vegetables are al dente and light brown.
