Directions

  1. Defrost the fresh cranberries and preheat the oven to 165 ° C. Line the spring form with baking paper and grease it with butter or baking spray.
  2. Mix the butter with the mixer and add the apple pie mix and 2/3 of the beaten egg. Knead the whole into a coherent dough. Cover the bottom and the edge of the spring form with half of the dough.
  3. Peel the apples, remove the cores and cut into small cubes. Mix the apple cubes with the sugar, cinnamon, the cranberries and the cranberry compote. Fill the mold with the cranberry apple mixture and press firmly.
  4. Sprinkle the counter with flour and roll out the remaining dough into a large slice. Stick stars out of the dough with the star cutter and spread playfully over the top of the cake.
  5. Brush the dough with the rest of the beaten egg. Bake the cake in the oven for 60 to 75 minutes until it is golden brown.
  6. Allow the cake to cool for about 1 hour in the form. Spray the cake with icing sugar for an extra winter effect.
