Spicy oatmeal with sweet fennel and carrots


Breakfast of oatmeal with fennel, carrots, maple syrup, 5 spice and pecans.

Directions

  1. Cut the stems and a small piece of the underside of the fennel bulb and remove the hard core. Cut into strips of ½ cm.
  2. Remove the carrots and cut into slices of ½ cm. Put the carrot, fennel and maple syrup in a pan. Heat for 5 minutes on medium heat.
  3. Meanwhile, bring the milk to a boil in a saucepan. Add the oatmeal flakes, a pinch of salt and the 5 spices as the milk.
  4. Allow 3 minutes to cook over low heat with stirring. Chop the nuts coarsely.
  5. Divide the porridge over the bowls. Spoon the fennel root mixture and sprinkle with the chopped pecans.
