Heat the sunflower oil and fry the onion. Add the ginger and red pepper and cook for 2 minutes at a low setting. Add 8 tablespoons of the water, wine vinegar, ketchup, sugar and soy sauce.

Meanwhile, stir the cornstarch with 3 tablespoons of cold water. Add this mixture to the sauce and cook to the desired thickness.
