Directions

  1. Halve the oranges and cut the wedges between the fleece with a sharp knife. Cut into pieces and keep separate.
  2. Mix the flour with the basterd, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Break the egg above and add the melted butter. Beat with a whisk or electric mixer until smooth. Pour in the milk bit by bit and beat until smooth.
  3. Heat the waffle iron to the second highest position. Spoon a layer of batter into the mold until all the waffle panes are almost full. Close the waffle iron and cook for 3-4 minutes until the waffles are tender and golden brown.
  4. Prick the waffles out of the waffle iron with a fork and let cool slightly on a rack. Bake waffles until the batter is empty.
  5. Heat the marmalade without cooking. Stir in the orange pieces and cardamom and serve with the waffles. Delicious with icing sugar.
