Directions

  1. Peel the apples with a peeler. Cut the apples into quarters and cut out the cores. Cut the parts into pieces.
  2. Preheat the oven to 220 ° C. Put the pieces of apple in a pan and sprinkle the vanilla sugar and cinnamon over it.
  3. Pour in the apple juice. Put the lid on the pan. Put the pan on high heat and bring the moisture to the boil.
  4. When the liquid boils, turn the heat down and boil the apple pieces for 10-12 minutes until they become soft and fall apart. Stir the apple pieces occasionally.
  5. Melt the butter in a saucepan over a gentle heat. Meanwhile, crumble the rusks by squeezing them over a bowl. Stir in the oatmeal, sugar and butter.
  6. Remove the pan from the heat and mash the apples with a pestle into a coarse pot. Or use the hand blender for a really smooth apple sauce.
  7. Spoon the applesauce into the baking dish, smoothing the top.
  8. Sprinkle the biscuit mixture over it. Put the dish in the middle of the oven and let the crust turn brown in 10-15 minutes.
  9. Serve the apple sauce on a plate with some vanilla custard or a scoop of ice cream.
