Boil the potatoes with the celery in 15-20 minutes.

Sprinkle the bacon with salt and pepper. Heat the oil and fry the bacon strips golden brown. Add the syrup and 150 ml of water and let the sauce reduce to a low setting.

Drain the potatoes and celery. Stamp them with the milk and mustard to a coarse puree. Season with salt and pepper and spoon in the apple cubes.

Serve the bacon patties with syrup sauce on the stew.
