Clean the orange and lemon. Peel the orange peel of the orange and the yellow skin of the lemon with a peeler.

Peel the pears, but leave the stalk.

Bring the pears with the port, citrus zest, the cinnamon stick, the cloves, the bay leaf and the sugar to the boil.

Cook on low heat for 45 minutes without lid on the pan. Serve the pears warm, lukewarm or cold.
