Directions

  1. Peel the apples, remove the cores and cut apples into 8 parts each.
  2. Bring wine to the boil with thick juice.
  3. Add apple slices and simmer for approx.
  4. 8 minutes.
  5. Take the apple slices out of the pan with a skimmer, let them drain on top of the pan and place on a plate.
  6. Preheat the grill to the highest setting.
  7. Reduce apple casserole in a high heat for about 5 minutes to a syrupy sauce and allow to cool slightly.
  8. Gently crumble speculaas.
  9. Place apple slices in circle on four ovenproof plates or dishes.
  10. Sprinkle speculaas and brown sugar over them.
  11. Divide the butter into flakes.Push the plates with two at the same time under the hot grill and let sugar melt in approx.
  12. 2 minutes.
  13. Make large bread roll of vanilla ice cream on top of gratin apple pieces with ice-cream scoop.
  14. Prepare wine syrup..
