For the syrup, heat 200 ml water in a saucepan with the sugar and 4 cm ginger in slices. Bring to the boil and let boil for about 20 minutes until a syrup.

Add the juice of 3 lemons and let the ginger continue to stir for at least 2 hours in the syrup while it cools down.

Serve the ginger-lemon syrup with (sparkling) water, ice cubes, and slices of lemon.
