Put the nuts, sugar and water in a thick-bottomed pan. Slowly heat the contents to a medium and especially not too hot heat source. Let the sugar melt without stirring and first get a yellow color. After about 10-12 minutes the color has turned golden brown. That is the time to pour the contents of the pan over the baking tray.

Make sure that the very hot caramelised sugar layer is equally thin everywhere. Allow the layer to cool down and then break it into pieces, or use a hammer to break it into pieces. The items that are not used for dessert can be stored in a cookie jar.

Spoon one or two rolls of vanilla ice cream on each dessert plate. Garnish with the caramelised nuts.
