Heat the oil and fry the onion and garlic without coloring. Fry the rice until the grains shine.

Add the cinnamon stick, orange zest, cardamom and stock and simmer for 12 minutes or according to the instructions on the package.

Take the pilav from the heat source and let it stand for another 5 minutes. Meanwhile, roast the almonds in a dry, hot frying pan until light brown.

Remove the pods and the cinnamon stick from the pilav and sprinkle the almonds for serving over the rice.
