Directions

  1. Put the split peas with 1.5 liters of water, the potatoes, onion, leek, fresh sausage and bouillon tablets in a large soup pot and cook for 1.5 hours. Stir frequently.
  2. Remove the sausage from the soup and cut into slices. Scoop out the potatoes, poke them and stir them again (depending on the desired thickness of the soup) through the soup.
  3. Add the slices of fresh sausage and smoked sausage and season the pea soup with salt and pepper. Garnish with some parsley.
  4. Cook the brown rice according to the instructions on the package. Serve the rice with the caster sugar to taste and a knob of butter.
