Directions

  1. Heat the butter in a thick-bottomed pan and gently fry the onion for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the cabbage, cloves, salt and sugar and add 300 ml of water.
  3. Stir well and bring to a boil. Leave to stew for about 1.5 hours at low setting and with the lid on the pan and stir occasionally.
  4. Add the apples, the raisins, the vinegar and the orange zest. Cover everything and continue for another 10 to 15 minutes.
