Directions

  1. Heat the butter in a stew pan and fry the onion.
  2. Add the sauerkraut, honey, bay leaves and the beer. Slowly simmer for about 30 minutes with the lid on the pan. Put the apple slices and the smoked sausage on top for the last 10 minutes.
  3. In the meantime, cook the potatoes in 20 minutes. Drain and stamp with the milk and salt, freshly ground pepper and nutmeg to taste.
  4. Roast the bacon in a hot grill or frying pan.
  5. Remove the bay leaves. Spoon the mashed potatoes in a bowl with the smoked sausage and the bacon.
  6. Delicious with apple syrup and mustard.
