Directions

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into pieces. Drain the sauerkraut well in a colander and press out the moisture. Melt a third of the butter in a pan, pour in the sauerkraut and pour in the apple juice.
  2. Smother the sauerkraut covered in 20 minutes until tender. Boil the potatoes in a hefty layer of boiling water with a little salt in 15-20 minutes until done.
  3. Cut the onions coarse. Heat another third of the butter in a skillet and gently fry the onions in 5 minutes golden yellow. Spoon half of the fried onion on a plate. Add the minced meat to the onion in the pan and sprinkle with paprika, thyme and some salt and pepper. Fry the minced meat mixture into brown and crunchy.
  4. Meanwhile, peel the bananas and halve them in the length. Heat the remaining butter in a frying pan and fry the bananas nicely brown in 4-6 minutes.
  5. Drain the potatoes and crush them. Pour the warm milk with stirring and stir everything into a smooth puree. Mix the sauerkraut, fried onion and some salt and pepper. Warm the stew for a little while. Serve the sauerkraut stew in deep plates, with a dimple in the middle with the minced meat in it and over it. Put 2 half bananas on top.
