Sauerkraut stew with spicy bacon steaks


A tasty Dutch recipe. The main course contains the following ingredients: meat, skimmed bacon patties (400 g), curry powder, butter, onion (in half rings), cooking potatoes (kruimig (800 g)), sauerkraut (500 g), red pepper (diced), milk and ketchup.

Directions

  1. Cut the bacon pieces each into 2 equal pieces and rub them in with the curry powder and salt.
  2. Heat the butter in a frying pan and fry the bacon strips brown on both sides.
  3. Add the onion and cook for approx.
  4. 20 minutes.
  5. Cook the potatoes according to the instructions on the package.
  6. Rinse the sauerkraut with cold water in a colander.
  7. Spoon the sauerkraut and the sweet pepper on the potatoes 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time.
  8. Drain the cooking water (collect about 150 ml), pour the milk into the pan with the potatoes and sauerkraut and bring everything to the boil.
  9. Stamp the potatoes and vegetables lightly.
  10. Remove the bacon slices from the pan.
  11. Pour the boiled water into the onion and shortening, stir in the ketchup and bring the gravy to the boil while stirring.
  12. Give the bacon strips with the curryjus separately at the stew..
