Stew pears with hanging
Vegetarian Dutch dish with stewed pears, yogurt, redcurrant juice, sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves and ginger root.

Line a colander with a clean tea towel and let the yogurt drain in 2-3 hours.

Peel the pears, halve them and cut out the cores.

Bring the currant juice with the sugar to a boil in a pan, let the sugar roast while stirring.

Put the pears in the boiling juice and place the cinnamon stick with the cloves and the ginger slices in between.

Boil the pears without the lid in 45-60 min. Gently until done.

Take the pears out of the liquid with a slotted spoon and spread them over dishes. Let the moisture reduce to a nice syrup on high heat.

On the pears, spoon a large spoonful of hangop (drained yoghurt) and pour some of the syrup over.
