Are organic eggs healthier than free-range eggs?

  1. All eggs contain the same amount of good nutrients, such as proteins, vitamins and minerals. Organic and free-range chickens do have better living conditions than an ordinary free-range chicken. This way they have more space and can go outside. How do you know under what circumstances the hen laid its eggs? Look it up in the Animal Welfare Boodschappenhulp and make an informed choice.

Contaminated eggs

  1. When chickens are outside, there is a greater chance of contamination with substances from the environment, such as dioxin or heavy metals. The eggs from these chickens still meet safety standards.

Is a brown egg healthier than a white egg?

  1. Brown and white eggs are equally healthy. The color of the shell or yolk makes no difference. The color of the skin has to do with the breed of the chicken. The color of the yolk depends on the food. Adding beta-carotene to the feed makes yolks more orange. In the video below, Corné van Dooren, our Sustainable Food expert, explains exactly how it works.
