Stewed french chicken

A tasty French recipe. The main course contains the following ingredients: poultry, smoked bacon cubes, free-range chicken (1 kg), dry white wine, leeks, potatoes (in the peel), carrot (in pieces) and thyme.

Directions

  1. Fry the bacon cubes in a frying pan until they are crispy brown. Sprinkle the abdominal cavity and the outside of the chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. Spoon the bacon on a plate and fry the chicken in the shortening around golden brown. Pour the wine along the edge of the pan with the chicken. Place the lid on the pan and fry the chicken for 30 minutes on a low heat. Turn the chicken occasionally.
  3. Cut the leek into 2 cm pieces. Rinse the leek in a colander and let the pieces drain well. Halve the big potatoes.
  4. Divide the potatoes, leek, carrot and bacon around the chicken and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Spoon the vegetables and put the sprigs of thyme in between. Put the lid back on the pan. Cook the chicken gently in about 45 minutes until done. Season the vegetables occasionally. Delicious with savory mashed potatoes.
