Peel the potatoes and cook them together with the sauerkraut in salted water. While this is boiling, fry bacon into a frying pan.

Drain the potatoes as soon as they are done and collect the cooking liquid. Stamp the whole into a smooth stew. If necessary, use the cooking liquid or a little pineapple juice from the can to make the stew extra smooth.

Stir in the bacon with the released fat. Do you want a meager version. Leave the fat and use a little milk to make the stew more creamy.

Cut the pineapple into small cubes and mix through the stew. Serve with a smoked sausage if desired.
