A tasty Italian recipe. The dessert contains the following ingredients: old bread, walnuts (a 110 g), eggs, lemon (scrubbed and grated), fine sugar, cinnamon powder, ground cloves and powdered sugar for sprinkling.

Crumble the bread in the food processor into bread crumbs.

Roast the bread crumbs in a frying pan without oil or butter and let it cool down.

Roast the walnuts briefly in the frying pan and allow to cool.

Split 4 eggs.

Grate the yellow skin of the lemon.

Grind the walnuts finely with 50 g of sugar.

Grind the bread crumbs in a separate bowl with the cinnamon, clove and lemon zest.

Mix the rest of the eggs with the egg yolks and 150 g sugar frothy.

Fold in portions the walnuts mixture and then the bread crumbs.

Preheat the oven to 175 ºC.

In a fat-free bowl, whisk the egg whites with 1 tsp salt, add 50 g of sugar gradually.

Fold the whipped egg whites into the walnuts mixture, scoop in the spring form and fry the cake for 50 minutes until done.

After 35 minutes take the cake out of the oven, sprinkle 50 g of sugar and bake it further in the oven.

Let the cake rest for 15 minutes.

Remove the mold and allow the cake to cool.

Cut out strips of baking paper and lay them parallel to the cake.

Sprinkle the cake with icing sugar and remove the paper: a stripe pattern has now been created..
