Directions

  1. Remove the rind from the spits and cut the bacon into small cubes.
  2. Melt the butter in a frying pan and fry the bacon cubes. If they are almost done, add the chopped onions.
  3. Pour the buttermilk into a pan. Make a paste of the flour and a little water and add it to the buttermilk.
  4. Season with salt and bring to the boil while stirring. When the buttermilk mixture boils, add the fried onions and the bacon and stir well.
  5. Serve the bacon patties with buttermilk sauce in summer with cabbage lettuce and in winter with kidney beans. The carnelian sauce tastes delicious over boiled potatoes.
