Heat a frying pan on a high stand and fry the bacon cubes crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan, place on a plate and set aside the pan with the shortening.

Mix the sugar and soy sauce in a bowl and roll in the chicory. Fry the chicory in the shortening of the bacon on a high setting in soft and brown for about 10 minutes.
