Directions

  1. Cook the chicory bushes in the salted water for about 12 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, make the cheese sauce. Melt the butter in a pan and stir in the flour. Add the milk at small amounts simultaneously and stirring.
  3. Stir the grated cheese through the sauce. Season the sauce with pepper and salt.
  4. Let the cooked chicory drain well. Wrap each bush in a slice of ham.
  5. Place the chicory rolls side by side in the oven dish. Pour the cheese sauce over the rolls. Place the dish under the oven grill for a few minutes.
  6. If the sauce has golden brown spots here and there, the dish is ready. Finally, sprinkle a little grated nutmeg over it.
  7. Eat mashed potatoes with these chicory rolls with cheese sauce.
