Dutch meatballs with onion, egg and nutmeg.

Directions

  1. Chop the onion finely. Heat the butter in a frying pan and gently fry the onion for 3 minutes. Scoop the onion from the pan onto a plate and allow to cool slightly.
  2. Beat the egg. Put the mince with the egg and the nutmeg in a bowl. Tumble the biscuit over it. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Knead very well together. Divide the mince into 8 equal pieces and roll balls.
  4. Heat the remaining butter in the frying pan over a high heat. Roll the balls through the flour. Place the meatballs in the pan and bake them around brown.
  5. Turn down the heat and add a splash of water. Place the lid diagonally on the pan and roast the meatballs for about 20 minutes until done.
  6. Turn them occasionally. Pour the water into the pan and stir with a wooden spoon or spatula the cakes on the bottom of the pan.
  7. Season the gravy with salt and pepper.
