Peel the pears and cut them into 4 pieces each. Cut out the cores. Put the pieces of pear in a pan. Pour the thick juice over it.

Pour in so much water that the pears are well underneath. Put in half the cinnamon stick.

Put the pan on the fire, bring the pears to the boil. Then immediately turn the fire down. The pears must not boil hard.

Make sure that the water does not bubble too hard. Put the lid on the pan and simmer the pears until they are nice and red. That takes about 1 1/2 hours.

You can eat the pears hot or cold. A scoop of the cooking liquid about it is tasty. Serve the fries with it.
