Heat the baking product in a pan and fry the bacon cubes gently. Scoop the bacon from the pan into a dish.

Fry the onion in the shortening, add the kale and stir fry for about 3 minutes.

Place the potatoes on the kale, add water salt and cook for 20 minutes or until the coals and potatoes are cooked. Drain and stamp with some milk to a smooth stew. Season with salt and freshly ground pepper.

Serve the stew with the bacon and salami and serve with mustard, silver onions and gherkins.
