Bring a large pot of water with salt to the boil. Bake the bacon cubes in a dry frying pan. Remove them from the pan and add the olive oil.

Fry the onion for about 5 minutes at low setting and then add the garlic and thyme. Meanwhile cook the pasta al dente.

Spoon the kale through the onions and garlic and stir fry at medium height for about 5 minutes until the coals are shrunken and still bright green. Season with salt and freshly ground pepper.

Drain the pasta and keep a few spoonfuls of the cooking liquid. First scoop the pasta and the bacon through the kale and then the cheese plus some cooking water to make the whole creamy.
