Directions

  1. Heat the oil and fry the onion for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add all the ingredients to the minced meat and fry for a few minutes.
  3. Add the mince and fry it.
  4. Then add the tomatoes and a few tablespoons of water and let the minced meat sauce simmer for about 20 minutes on a low setting with the lid half closed.
  5. Let most of the moisture evaporate and season the minced meat with salt and freshly ground pepper. Stir in the rum if necessary. Let this cool completely.
  6. Preheat the oven to 200ºC. Put as large circles as possible out of the dough sheets and place them side by side on the baking sheet. Divide the mince filling over the middle of the dough circles. Brush the edges of the dough with a tassel egg and fold the circles close to half moons. Press the edges together well.
  7. Make small decorations with the remains of the dough and stick it with egg. Place the patties on the baking sheet. Brush them with the egg and fry until golden brown in 25 minutes.
  8. Eat them hot or cold. Delicious with mango or pineapple chutney.
