Directions

  1. Cut the pineapple into four slices of three cm thick. Cut off the peel and also cut out the hard core. Cut the pineapple slices into six pieces each.
  2. Wash the strawberries and remove the crowns. Cut the slices of cake into six cubes.
  3. Stick a piece of pineapple and a piece of cake on a skewer and then put in a strawberry, in length through the tip of the strawberry.
  4. Repeat this sequence five more times. Make three more skewers. Put the skewers on a dish and keep them covered in a cool place.
  5. On the barbecue: melt the butter in a saucepan on the barbecue and stir in the caster sugar with rum or orange juice.
  6. Brush the skewers with this sauce and place them on the grid of the barbecue, possibly on a piece of aluminum foil if the grid is too coarse.
  7. Fry the skewers 4-6 minutes until they are warm and lightly colored. Turn them regularly. Serve the skewers on plates with a bread roll ice cream.
