Fry the onion in oil and add the cranberries, 50 ml water, the balsamic vinegar and the cinnamon stick or the cinnamon powder.

Cook gently for 10 minutes. Remove the cinnamon stick and stir in the red cabbage. Heat without cooking.

Meanwhile, toast 2 tablespoons of shaved almonds in a dry, hot frying pan and sprinkle over the dish before serving.
