Red cabbage with prunes

A tasty Dutch recipe. The vegetarian side dish contains the following ingredients: sunflower oil, onion (chopped), red cabbage ((500 g), sliced), garlic (finely chopped), cloves, bay leaf, apple juice and prunes (pre-cropped).

Directions

  1. Remove the ugly outer leaves of the cabbage. Cut the coals into four parts. Cut the hard core diagonally from the parts. Cut the parts into thin strips, wash them and let them drain.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion and garlic gently for 3 minutes. Stir in the red cabbage and fry the vegetables for a while. Put the cloves in the bay leaf and place the leaf in the pan.
  3. Add the plums, the juice and salt to taste. Bring everything to a boil. Place the lid on the pan and cook the red cabbage in a gentle heat for about 50 minutes.
  4. Taste and add some salt if necessary. Delicious with hachee, braised beef or shoulder chops.
