Reuben sandwich


Sandwich of wholemeal bread, stuffed with wine sauerkraut, beef pastrami, Swiss gruyere, salad dressing and caraway seed; served with cornichons.

Directions

  1. Heat a frying pan without oil or butter and toast the caraway seed for 3 min. On medium heat. Remove from the pan and allow to cool.
  2. Let the sauerkraut drain in a colander and mix the caraway seed through it.
  3. Cut the cap of the bread. Cut 2 slices of 1½ cm per person. Brush 1 slice of bread per person with 2 tbsp salad dressing.
  4. Cover the non-smeared slices of bread with half of the pastrami, sauerkraut, cheese and the rest of the pastrami.
  5. Cover with the slices of bread with salad dressing, with the smeared side down.
  6. Brush the bottom and top of each sandwich with the butter.
  7. Heat the grill pan without oil or butter and grill the sandwiches in 10 min. On medium heat until golden brown. Turn halfway.
  8. Halve the sandwiches and serve with the cornichons.
