Directions

  1. Fill the rice steamer, steamer or pan with lid where the colander fits in with water, so that the water does not touch the insert or the colander. When using a colander, knot a rolled tea towel around the edge of the colander so that it fits well in the pan. Bring the water to a boil.
  2. Spoon the flour into parts through the egg mixture. Place a cloth in the colander: this is not necessary for a rice cooker or steam cooker.
  3. Mix the eggs with the caster sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt on a high setting in 5 minutes to a creamy, light-colored and viscous mass. Mix 80-100 milliliters of the soda through it.
  4. When the water boils out of the pan pour half the batter into the insert or the colander (on the cloth). Do not smooth the top of the batter.
  5. Fold the cacao airy through the rest of the batter and spread the chocolate batter over the vanilla batter. Take a skewer through the batter so that yellow and brown mix slightly.
  6. Place the insert or colander on the pan, place a lid on it and steam for about 45 minutes. Check in between if there is still enough water in the pan and fill if necessary with boiling water.
  7. Prick the cake at the end of the steaming time and see if the skewer comes out clean. Lift the cake (with cloth and all) from the pan. Leave to cool for 2 minutes and carefully remove the cloth that has been slightly glued on.
