Heat the butter in a saucepan and fry the onion with the pepper for 10 minutes, on a low setting.

Pour the beer and slowly bring it to the boil. Add the sauerkraut, cloves, bay leaves and thyme. Scoop everything together, put the lid on the pan and simmer for 1 hour at a very low setting.

Add the raisins for the last 25 minutes and put the sauerkraut bacon and sausage on the sauerkraut.

Cut the sausage for serving in pieces and the bacon into cubes or slices. Remove the cloves and the bay leaves.
