Directions

  1. Dab the meat dry and shake with salt, pepper and flour. Heat the butter in a large frying pan and fry the meat in portions around brown.
  2. Remove all the meat from the pan and add the onions. Fry them in medium heat and brown for about 5 minutes.
  3. Put the meat back in the pan and add the wine, the vinegar and the spices. Cover everything well.
  4. Place the lid on the pan and slowly bring to the boil on low setting.
  5. After 1½ hours, add the gingerbread and apple syrup. Simmer the meat for another hour until it is completely soft and the sauce syrupy and dark.
