Speculaas males


A tasty Dutch recipe. The dessert contains the following ingredients: flour, baking powder, dark brown caster sugar, gingerbread spices, butter (in small blocks) and garnish almonds.

Directions

  1. Sift the flour with baking powder, sugar, pinch of salt and speculaas spices over a large bowl. Add the butter and rub everything with the fingertips into a granular dough. Knead the whole quickly with cool hands to a coherent and supple dough. Form the dough into a ball, pack it in cling film and leave it in the fridge for at least 1 hour, but preferably 2 days.
  2. Preheat the oven to 175 ° C. Line the baking sheet with baking paper.
  3. Dust the work surface and the rolling pin with some flour. Roll out the dough into a piece of about 1/2 cm thick. Stick figurines out of the dough with the shape. Knead the leftovers again into a ball, roll it out and put out figurines again. Decorate the males with almonds.
  4. Put the baking tray in the middle of the oven and bake the gingerbread men in approx. 20 min. Brown and done. Allow the males to cool for 5 minutes on the baking tray. Then place them on a grid and allow them to cool down further. Keep them in a drum.
