Fry the bacon cubes a little. Add the oil, onion, bell pepper, freshly ground pepper, paprika powder and nutmeg to the bacon and cook for 3 minutes.

Stir in the sauerkraut and stir-fry 2 minutes. Pour in the wine and stir in the tomato puree. Slowly simmer for 20 minutes. Spoon the apple cubes through the sauerkraut for the last 5 minutes of the stew time.

Make the mashed potatoes according to the instructions on the packaging or make mashed potatoes, potatoes, milk, butter and a pinch of nutmeg while the sauerkraut is dusting.

Spoon the salami strips through the mashed potatoes. Serve the sauerkraut dish on a bed of mashed potatoes.
