Melt half of the butter or baking product and fry the onion from the stew package gently for 5 minutes.

Add the carrots, the potatoes and the stock and boil for 20 minutes with the lid on.

Meanwhile sprinkle the bratwurst with salt and pepper and fry in brown for 15 minutes and until tender in the rest of the butter.

Drain the stew and collect the cooking liquid.

Stir in onion, potato and carrot and add enough cooking water to create a firm, somewhat coarse stew. Season with salt and pepper.

Add a dash of warm water to the shortening of the sausages and serve them with the gravy at the stew.
