Put the red onion in the pot. Add the vinegar, sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, 200 ml warm water, the peppercorns and juniper berries.

Close the jar and gently shake up and down a few times. Let stand in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably a whole night.
