Bake the bacon slowly in a dry frying pan. Remove them from the pan and keep them for later use.

Add the butter to the shortening and fry the shallots in light brown for about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic, sage and courgette cubes and fry for a few more minutes without the courgette turning brown.

Add the garden peas and scoop the bacon through.

Let the vegetables with the lid on the pan stew for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
