Wintery beef stew with green cabbage and carrot

Peel the potatoes and cut them together with the carrots.

Peel the onion and cut into thin parts.

Cut the savoy cabbage into broad strips.

Rub the pieces of meat with salt and pepper and fry them in a frying pan with olive oil around brown.

Fry the wedges of onion.

Put the tomato paste, thyme and stock through and bring it to boil.

Cook the meat covered over very low heat (with a flame distributor) in 2.5 hours until tender.

Then pour in the potato, carrot and green cabbage.

Add a dash of water if necessary and simmer the dish for another 20-25 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

Serve the dish in deep plates.

Delicious with large wholemeal bread.
