Is It Healthy To Eat Avocado Seeds?

  1. I regularly hear that it would be healthy to eat avocado seeds. I can't imagine that. Are they really that healthy?

  1. Patricia Schutte, nutritionist A round of Googling does indeed yield the most jubilant stories. Ground avocado seed is said to help with weight loss, bowel problems, lower cholesterol, and so on and so forth. That sounds like a superfood to my ears. By superfood I mean a substance that would have all kinds of positive effects on health due to a high content of good nutrients and antioxidants. Other examples include goji berries, hemp seed and wheat grass.

Powder

  1. Unfortunately, the claimed health effects of such superfoods are generally not (enough) scientifically substantiated. In addition, one food does not contain all the essential nutrients the body needs. What else you eat throughout the day is more important for your health than a small amount of â € healthyâ € ™ powder, seeds or fruit. You will therefore not be healthier from eating avocado seeds. Each fruit and vegetable has its own unique nutrient package, so eat anything to get all the important nutrients and reduce the risk of disease.

Edible In addition, not everything that is natural is automatically edible. For example, people appear to become ill from superfoods such as bitter almonds and apricot kernels, because they naturally contain the toxic substance hydrocyanic acid. (Bitter almonds are, by the way, a different type from the 'normal' sweet almonds that are in the shops.) The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) has not received any complaints about avocado seeds, but it cannot be accepted. recommend to eat a lot of it. Do you also have a question?
