Zika Virus Causes Zika Fever: Symptoms and Treatment

Zika fever comes from the Zika virus. The virus belongs to the same virus family that also includes yellow fever, West Nile Virus, Japanese Encephalitis and dengue. The virus is transmitted through mosquito bites but is not a threat to adults. The most common symptoms are fever, rash, muscle pain or joint pain. The complaints last for a few days to a week. Pregnant women who contract the virus are more likely to have a baby with a head that is too small. However, this needs to be further investigated whether this claim is correct. At the beginning of 2016, the Zika virus was frequently in the news because of the explosive spread of the virus. The disease is even reaching alarming proportions, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
