Directions

  1. Sift the flour, baking powder, 5 spices and the salt over a bowl.
  2. Put the butter and granulated sugar in a different bowl and mix with a mixer in 5 min. Airy and creamy. Mix in the egg and vanilla flavor.
  3. Add the flour mixture and quickly knead to a cohesive dough. Put wrapped in cling film for 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat the oven to 175 ºC.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured sheet to make the most thin cloth (approx. 3 mm).
  6. Cut out 50 cookies with the protrusion molds. Prick a 4 mm hole in the biscuits if you want to hang them later.
  7. Place the cookies with 2 cm distance between them on 2 baking sheets lined with baking paper.
  8. Fry the cookies on the baking trays for about 10 minutes in the middle of the oven. Alternate the baking trays halfway through the baking time.
  9. The cookies are ready when they start to turn golden brown at the edges. Allow to cool for 5 minutes on the baking tray and for 1 hour on a rack.
  10. Put the bags of glaze 5 minutes in a bowl with hot water. Knead the bags well and put the contents in 2 separate containers.
  11. Add the red dye to 1 container and stir to a red glaze. Spread the glaze over the biscuits with a spoon and smooth with a knife. Allow to dry for 3 hours.
