Is bread fattening?

  1. Bread is not fattening. It's about what you consume and consume in calories over a longer period of time. We call this the energy balance. If you eat more than you need over a long period of time, you will gain weight. This concerns what you eat in total, not one product.

  1. One whole grain sandwich contains about 80 kilocalories. These calories come mainly from carbohydrates (starch), but also from protein.   1. Carbs themselves don't make you fat. You don't have to avoid carbohydrates if you want to lose or maintain weight. It is especially important that you choose healthy products with carbohydrates, such as wholemeal bread.

Wholemeal bread

  1. Whole grain bread contains a lot of fiber. Fiber, for example, is good for bowel movements and ensures a full (satiated) feeling. If you feel good that you are full, you are less likely to overeat. Eating whole grain foods lowers the risk of certain heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Whole grain foods are also a healthy way to get carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.

Losing weight without bread?

  1. In a low-carbohydrate diet, bread is often omitted. Following a diet without bread for a longer period of time is not recommended. Partly because bread is an important source of iodine. Don't you eat bread? Then ask a dietitian for advice, so that you can be sure that you are getting all the nutrients your body needs.

How to lose weight healthily
